The mission of the legislative committee is to effectively identify legislative issues that support the aggregate industry, and work to defeat legislation harmful to the aggregate industry. By reviewing potential legislation and provide guidance to staff regarding positions on particular issues, the legislative committee advocates for our industry in Oregon and beyond.
The Legislative Committee also works in tangent with the OCAPA PAC in collecting and distributing campaign donations to further industry efforts.
When OCAPA decides to propose legislation for government’s consideration, it is drafted first by this group, and then goes to the Board for approval. This thoughtful and thorough effort then moves the proposed legislation on to the appropriate state legislators for feedback. Legislation that OCAPA brings to the Capitol frequently turns into law.
