A Quality Control Technician (QCT) performs testing of fresh Portland cement concrete including sampling, concrete temperature, slump, unit weight, air content, and fabrication of specimens for strength testing and performs other duties including calculating cement content and water-cement ratio as required by specifications. This is a special segment designed by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) as a supplemental to the ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I for certification to work on state projects.
This course is for all personnel involved in testing fresh concrete. ASTM C94 and ACI 301 require technicians to have demonstrated an ability equivalent to ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician-Grade I certification.
OCAPA and the Certification Board of Directors ensures the proper execution of the Concrete Control Technician certification in compliance with its separate agreement with ODOT. ODOT and the Certification Advisory Board have partnered in writing and grading the exam. Working with OCAPA, they overview the program and make changes that are needed. At the request of members, the Technology Committee has helped review the CCT class structure.
