SUMMARY:ODOT - Quality Control Technician (QCT) May 14 - 15\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:A Quality Control Technician (QCT) performs testing of fresh Portland cement concrete including sampling\, concrete temperature\, slump\, unit weight\, air content\, and fabrication of specimens for strength testing and performs other duties including calculating cement content and water-cement ratio as required by specifications. This is a special segment designed by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) as a supplemental to the ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I for certification to work on state projects. \nA half day review\, with the exam given the next morning\, is sponsored by OCAPA in cooperation with ODOT. Individuals will need to be familiar with water-cement ratio worksheets and be able to navigate the following ODOT manuals: \n\nManual of Field-Testing Procedures\nOregon Standard Specifications for Construction – 2024 (Green Book)\n\nManuals must be purchased through outside vendors: \n\n2024 Oregon Standard Specifications – https://5207–62.myuplinxstore.com/franchise/index.htm (direct link) or on the specifications webpage: http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/SPECS/pages/index.aspx.\nManual of Field-Testing Procedures – http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/CONSTRUCTION/pages/mftp_manual.aspx\n\nA current copy of ASTM C-94 Specifications is needed for the exam. The exam is a 2-hour\, open book exam with a passing grade of 80%. Those successfully completing the ODOT examination and the ACI written and performance exams will be certified for work on ODOT projects. This certification expires the same date as ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I. \nWritten ODOT recertification exams can be scheduled by appointment by calling the OCAPA office at 503-588-2430. \nThis class does NOT include the ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I certification\, which is required. Please remember to register for the ACI class.
