SUMMARY:ACI Class
DESCRIPTION:A half day review\, with exams administered the following day\, is sponsored by OCAPA in cooperation with the American Concrete  Institute (ACI). It is conducted by a Professional Engineer and graded by ACI. \nThose successfully completing both the ACI written and performance examinations will receive a wallet card from ACI certifying them as an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I. Certification is valid for 5 years. \nREQUIRED PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: \n· Familiarity with basic algebra. \n· A working knowledge of the following ASTM Standards: \n-C 172 – Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete \n-C 1064 -Temperature of Freshly Mixed Portland Cement Concrete \n-C 143 – Slump of Hydraulic Cement Concrete \n-C 138 -Unit Weight\, Yield\, and Air Contentof Concrete \n-C 231 – Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by thePressure Method \n-C 173 – Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the VolumetricMethod \n-C 31 – Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field \n·You must be familiar with your testing equipment and be able to proceed through testing procedures without coaching or comment from the examiner or others. \n· Students must provide their own equipment or arrange to share equipment. \nNo more than two students per equipment set. \nNOTICE TO STUDENTS RE-CERTIFYING OR CHALLENGING: \n· You must provide your previous ACI# on the registration form. \n· If you are recertifying\, ACI requires successful completion of both the performance \nand written examinations. \n· Individuals that are recertifying are not required to attend the review \n· ACI exams (written or performance) are not administered outside of scheduled \nclass dates.
